At 500 KB you get a high-quality image that loads quickly on any connection. This is a good target for portfolio images, high-res blog headers, product shots on e-commerce sites, and social media posts where you want sharp detail without the multi-megabyte file from your camera.

Most phone photos at 500 KB will look nearly identical to the original. This target is generous enough that you rarely need to increase aggression. If your image is already under 500 KB, the compressor will tell you no further compression is needed. For DSLR photos at 20+ megapixels, consider resizing to web dimensions first for even better results.
